Here at Playtime, we love trying new things. For the first time ever, we’ve invited a member of our community to be our ambassador. She’ll be sharing the latest news about our events, tips for exhibitors and visitors, her brand crushes, and the shows through her eyes as she attends Playtime Paris and Playtime New York this winter. For this debut into a new way of communicating, we’ve selected photographer and mother of two, Claudia Cabrero, to be Playtime’s first ambassador!

A long time friend of our events, Claudia has worked closely with our team to create editorials with exhibitors and exclusive content at our shows. As our ambassador this season, she’ll be talking a lot about our events with her followers on Instagram. We wanted to give her a warm introduction to anyone unfamiliar with her in our community as well, so we sat down with Claudia to learn about her photography, her motherhood journey, and how she feels about this new evolution of our partnership. Let’s learn more about Playtime’s ambassador, Claudia!

Claudia Cabrero

Hi Claudia!

Can you please introduce yourself?

Hi, I’m Claudia! I’m from Spain, but I lived in France for 10 years. I am a French and Bachibac (the French and Spanish high school final exams) professor at a high school in Spain, and I’m also a children’s fashion photographer. I live in Spain with my daughters, my husband, and our dog. We all love fashion and traveling, and I share my photography with my community on Instagram via my profile, @olivalclauca.

Can you please describe your vision of childhood?

I have a very nostalgic vision of childhood. For me, it’s a magical period of life that remains in the memory for a lifetime. I like to create timeless photos that tell the stories of intimate, everyday moments. I want my photos to all follow the same aesthetic that resembles analog photos that are sometimes imperfect, but are touching to the viewer.

What do you try to capture through your photography?

Daily life, intimate moments… Going farther than just telling a story, I try to capture and transmit an emotion, a memory of childhood.

How did you start sharing your work on social media?

I started sharing photos on social media when my youngest daughter, Olivia, was four months old. I wanted to take my old digital camera and share my photos on Instagram with my friends. At the time, I didn’t share the photos with everyone, but there were some contests that required you to have a public profile. So, my husband and I decided to make my photos public, and consequently, our daughters. The thought of this made me a bit nervous, but I felt that I had a story to tell, the story of my daughters’ childhood, and I wanted it to be holistic. I also took some online courses to go further with my photography. I got so hooked on creating images, I always had my camera with me and I documented my daughters’ childhood just like my father had done with my sister and I during our childhood.

What a beautiful journey! Can you tell us a bit about your process for creating editorials?

It’s amazing because I love fashion and I have fun creating looks with different brands (or just one!) for fashion editorials. I love working with brands and telling stories through my lens. For me, it’s important to communicate with the brand, to understand the message they want to convey. From there, I do my best to capture that message through my photography.

When did you start coming to our events?

What first drew you to Playtime?

I’ve been coming to Playtime for 7 years now. The first time I came, my daughters were little and it offered a place to discover incredible brands. I met buyers, stylists, photographers, and the people behind children’s fashion magazines and agencies.

I came precisely because it was a place to meet and find inspiration, and since then I’ve built a beautiful community there.

We’re so happy to see you each time ❤️ How would you describe our events?

I find that Playtime is surprising each time and I never get bored. For me, it’s important to see people in person, to speak with them and exchange ideas.

You’ll be our very first ambassador this season. What did you think when our team asked you to take on this role?

I’m very happy! When they asked me, I could hardly believe it. Thank you, Playtime, for this; it’s a gift. At first I had trouble speaking in videos, but now the first one is done and I’ve conquered my fear!

We’re so excited too! What are you most looking forward to?

I know that I’m going to get to know a lot of new brands, that I’m going to get to meet new people, and that I’m going to continue taking photos with the beautiful brands that come to Playtime. I love everything about being Playtime’s ambassador!

It’s going to be amazing!

How often will you share the inside scoop?

I’ll be sharing news once a month leading up to the shows on my Instagram, @olivalclauca. From the latest news to my brand crushes, top tips, and so much more, you won’t want to miss it! I’ll also take followers with me as I visit Playtime Paris in January and Playtime New York in February.

We can’t wait!

What does this new step in our partnership mean to you?

It’s another small step forward in the world of photography, and in the right direction. I’m proud to know that I’m advancing in this world… who knows what’s waiting for me in the future!

What are you most excited for as Playtime’s ambassador?

For me, it’s exciting but also a huge responsibility! I want to do it well and to feel that I am there for the brands, the buyers, and everyone else who is going to follow this new adventure!

We couldn’t agree more! We’re so excited to have Claudia as Playtime’s first ambassador, and can’t wait to follow along as she shares exciting news. This new way of communicating about our events will bring a new voice and a new perspective to them. We can’t wait to see the world through Claudia’s eyes. Stay tuned on her Instagram, @olivalclauca, to get the latest scoop from Playtime and see more of her stunning photography.
